Valparaiso

Valparaiso is a city in Chile, on the Pacific Ocean. It was a very important port in the 19th century and all the ships going through the Cape Horn stopped here on their way to the north.

The waterfront was the business center, with all the big important stone buildings and the docks… but the life of the city was on the hills. Some ascensores were installed to get more easily to the habitations, to the whorehouses and bars to the tiendas and crummy inns. Now, some of these hills are protected by UNESCO so that the architecture from this time of great wealth of the port will be kept.

The famous poet, nobel prize winner and diplomat Pablo Neruda lived in the city, in a stupendous house with a fantastic view on the sea.

It’s a nice city, with paintings of the walls and interesting-looking young people and music ans memories in the streets, at night.

  1. La ville semble déserte. Y a pas de gens ?

  5. @joachim, t’as peut-être un appareil magique. Est-ce qu’il fait disparaître les gens seulement sur les photos, et donc après coup, ou bien au moment où tu appuies sur le bouton ? Parce que là ça serait intéressant :)

  6. Un “i” à la place d’une “u” et la vue devient la vie …
